Hey folks, I'm not on here too much... more of a lurker than anything - and I appreciate all of your posts and advice.

I have an Amex Platinum card I travel a bit, but not too much, Most of my points are in spend as I do consulting and buy a lot of equipment for clients.

I've got around 350,000 points in my Amex rewards. I want to take my daughter to Paris for her 10th birthday next year around March/April. My wife would come as well.

I know its not good to hoard points - but I haven't had anywhere to spend them lately. It has all been business travel that was expensed and reembursed.

So, just looking for advice on how to get the most for my miles. Do I use them for our airfares, or more for our hotel stays? Any advantage to booking the trip or portions of the trip through the Amex online travel portal, or stick with point transfers?

Would love to leverage the points to a nice starwood spot or something like
that.

Anyone taken a 10 year old girl to paris?

Suggestions on hotels, etc?

I'm flying from Buffalo, NY - so its either a transfer, or I can fly direct from Canada - Toronto. I haven't seen any transfer promos lately so I'm probably going to end up point to point.
