I have the Rimowa Limbo IATA carryon... hard to find a smaller carryon suitcase ! I don't think a measuring tape can measure 0.2" too accurately so I should be ok... Nice thing about the Rimowa is that it can't be overstuffed so the size is the size.
Yep, the Limbo seems to be the same size as all the other IATA-sized models. And you won't have to worry about a measuring tape, just the oh-so-pleasant-to-use AC sizers
I know airlines can set whatever carry-on rules and size and weight and quantity restrictions they want -- it's their business after all. But you have an international aviation body that sets a standard which is used as a guideline by luggage manufacturers yet ignored by airlines. In AC's case, they're really close! Just make the changes and be done with this headache:
- Adjust the max acceptable dimensions to IATA's standard
- Eliminate the weight restriction as most North American airlines have already done, or choose one sufficiently high à la BA
- Enjoy far fewer headaches
