Anyway, last night the resort threw a "jungle party" for guests. They played loud music and a few guests were dancing on the bar. This should NEVER happen at a 5* resort, very tasteless.

At 9:00 pm the wife and I decided to go to bed, thinking the music would die down. The music did not die down till 1:00 am!!!!!!!!!! Our room (was upgraded) was right against the bar / dinner area.

I sent an email to the reservation lady I was working with at one pm. I also took pictures of the GM encouraging the drinking / dancing.

Today, the GM said

"I left at 11:30 pm and I didn't think the music was too loud."
"We have these Australians and they like to party, they were playing music from their ipod."

"Last week the music ended at 10:00 pm"
"we gave you an upgrade but it backfired"

never once apologized.

What should I do? should I ask for a half night complimentary? it just really bugs me that one night could be spoiled by a few guests. The hotel didn't do anything to curtail the problem though, and that is where the problem lies.
I would rain high hell on that resort and that GM. Does he think he's running a ClubMed or frat house? Those Australians should go to a nightclub. That's what they're there for. I'm guessing they have very little decency for other guests after what they did.

It seems like he's a partier so you might get no restitution from the GM and may have to escalate things to corporate. I know a lot of GMs but this one takes the cake. Never seen someone actively encouraging bad behavior and egging it on. I hope you will name this shameful resort so we can all avoid it. I don't pay good money to be kept up by loud music and partying. I also, don't pay good money to be talked to like that by a GM.

I would check out and leave as others have said.
