As I said- the vast majority of cases IMHO do not warrant me to fill out a health and safety form out. There are a minority of cases that warrant proper procedures- but I may remind you this is not the point of health and safety. Having to predict the future to gauge the possibility of something going wrong is not beneficial to my safety.
And let's get one thing quite clear- Health and Safety is not about health and safety- it is about protecting the employer from litigation and nothing more. I expect companies to take reasonable measures to protect it's staff (as any company would)- but I fail to see, as a pure example, I am required to fill out a risk assessment form EVERY other day to use a university wind tunnel that has a max speed of 25mph. I would also remind some that other countries (i.e. USA) get on swimmingly without these needless forms and maintain very high safety standards.
Back to BA- I can quite see why meals are not given away after they have been cooked (that's just common sense), but sandwiches and packaged items should be given away IMHO.
