In this litigious age, although the principle of giving food to charity is a good one, residual food will generally be tipped into the bin rather than be given to the homeless for example.
I can remember when waste food from canteens/schools etc were collected by local pig farmers to feed their stock - unfortunately this has now stopped mainly due to reducing the risk of spreading disease I imagine.
I wonder what the pigs of today would think of the waste from GC T5?
The risk of a claim coming in for causing food poisoning is just to great and I would suggest that like most things that is blamed on H&S, that it would be companies insurers that require food to be disposed of safely.
Because it is Health and Safety that enables people to sue, to a large extent. Health and Safety, for the VAST majority of circumstances, is a waste of time, meaningless and prohibitive. In no other country do people have to go through the palava of filling out needless "risk assesment forms" with the intention of somehow predicting what might possibly go wrong. I make a habit of putting "sudden earthquake" on all of my forms. It's a joke and a farce.
