The information I have been given from an AA cabin crew training manager is that the temperature can be controlled within a 5 degree temperature variance from the cabin crew. The flight deck/crew can control the main functions of the HVAC.

Several departments at the airline have been made aware of passenger discomfort on this aircraft, so give it some time to be sorted out. This applies to both A321 versions of the AA Aircraft.

In my personal experience, I have felt mostly that the airflow is weak, and got the claustrophobic feeling from that. I mentioned it to the Flight Attendant, and within 10 minutes there was a small improvement.

Solution: Tell the cabin crew if you feel uncomfortable during flight. Send a note via the form on the website after your flight so it can be properly communicated.
