The spring mileage sale was nice and I did redeem 10,000 miles for a RNO-PDX RT for my mom. Considering the ticket would have been $200ish, that's a good value.
Then you should consider BAEC as an alternative. You can fly AS/AA/US using BAEC for as low as 2500 miles each way + $30 for anything that is less than 650 miles in distance.
