Given the number of places to eat in the SFO Terminal (although I do not know how many are open at that unholy hour), I would probably not bother getting a day pass for your layover. It should be easy enough to find an empty gate to sit for a while before your flight. Of course, you could always see if another FTer could guest you into one of the clubs.
Or if you have an AMEX card, just use the Centurion Lounge (free for Plat/Back, $50 for others).
