I got my Amtrak statement in the mail recently and noticed a deal that since I haven't taken a train in a while, if I did so before Oct 31, I would get 750 bonus points. Called to check out whether possible to buy the web fare from CLT to Raleigh for $3.40 and then just not use the ticket. The rep. said no one had ever asked that question but he doesn't see how they would know I actually didn't travel.
