I haven't been in about 7-8 years, but cannot remember seeing many North Americans there - mostly Australians and Europeans.
It certainly is a long trip from America. Curious.
Thanks for reading and complimenting my report!! ^
I don't know if it is the "latest 'exotic' destination" for Americans. But, I think it has received more attention by Americans from and after the book & Julia Roberts' acting in the movie
Eat, Pray, Love; so, it is in the consciousness of more Americans. However, since there are no non-stop flights from the USA to Bali, I don't think it will rise the level of Fiji or Tahiti for most Americans (when compared with Australians and Europeans who have an easier time to get to Bali).
I suppose distance and difficulty to get there from home play a part in one's sense of what is "exotic."
How "exotic" do you think Hawaii or, to a lesser extent, the Caribbean is for most Europeans (since both are easy, common vacation destinations for Americans)?
