I'm generally not one who swims in oceans, so, my opinion probably isn't worth much. Also, we were in Nusa Dua when oceanfront; other areas of Bali have much nicer beach areas (I've read).

We didn't get any additional vaccines; but, we've traveled to other places and were up-to-date. Here is the US CDC's Health Information for Travelers to Indonesia, which is usually where we start. I do note that Bali is not affected by some diseases nearly as much as other areas of Indonesia.

If I were going now, without US Airways' award chart, there are still some good options; but, none as easy as the 90k of which we took advantage.
