I have not done alot of international travel, but with that being said...I did an award trip back from Morocco in BE and specifically sought out the 747 upper deck from AMS back to US. I flew from AMS to ATL upstairs...it was fantastic...great service...food was descent...nice and quiet...I would do everything I could to get an upper deck seat rather than the main deck. The 747 is not going to be around much longer and then that "private jet" feel will be gone from Delta service. You can always go for a walk on the main deck, but it is nice to go back upstairs to your seat.
