By the way, if you go to the Urban Planning Exhibition, you can see images/models of Lujiazui when there was nothing there at all (apart from small houses). Second to the aquarium, the Urban Planning Exhibition is my favorite tourist spot in Shanghai.

Eta: The main reason 1995-2000 progress was more notable than 2000-2015 is the focal point shifted to Beijing during 2001. In both cases, more than half of the world's construction equipment was in each city.
