Interesting, when I first read the title of your post, I thought it was the other way round. Eg I would never ever talk to Asia SPG corporate, since 99% of the time, they would side with the hotel and show less empathy over an issue. Where as, N America customer service has more flexibility and show personal interest in their support.

On a property level though, I guess it's the cultural differences, I've checked in at hotels in U.S. where the agents try to be your best friend, especially resort locations. It takes getting used to when they addressed me by first name. Whereas Asia property tend to show more professionalism and luxury, even at a low cost property.

There are times, where I wish they can switch styles based on situations. When I need a favour etc., Asians will more than likely follow the book.
