I did like Phu Quoc island (Vietnam).

Reasons:
quiet, welcoming hosts, bungalow style accommodation under $100, hotels/resorts with rooms that have direct access to the sea, fresh seafood.

Comment:
This laid back aura may have disappeared by now. A new international airport was under construction, so I'm not sure about present atmosphere on the Island. We were there at the beginning of 2013.
