For grins just put in some random dates this summer for LHR-LAX-SYD and back in Main Cabin and it came up with GBP 12,000+

Turns out no matter I tried, it always put LHR-LAX in D1. Now those tickets can be had for GBP 3500 so you'd pay GBP 8500 for Main Cabin LAX-SYD!

Buying separate tickets LHR-LAX/LAX-SYD and back is about $3000 in MC
