It is interesting to see how many posters have commented on how the ME3 product is so much better, and instead of whining, the US3 should just compete.

I wonder if the same people will retain that position if, for example, the ME3 governments decide to make their profession a "strategic" priority, enter the US market at half the prices charged by their firms at double the quality/service levels, even if that loses them billions.

You are asking private airlines to compete against governments with unlimited funds and no desire to make a profit. The ME3 airlines' goal is to bring tourism to their cities and make them business centres, everything else is secondary.

I am no fan of US restrictions on foreign ownership, think that a foreign airline should be able to buy a US domestic airline or start one. I think the Fly America rule is a nice subsidy for the US3. I also think the US govt should also invest in its aviation infrastructure and have favourable regulations to support inbound tourism and aviation, much like the ME3 governments.
