The only exception I know of is hotels are permitted to serve sparkling wine with breakfast.
Well, I don't know but I guess there are different alcohol permits in South Africa. No booze in the lounge before 11am but if you go to the excellent pub downstairs (domestic terminal) you can buy everything even in early morning.
It is Africa and I don't even try to understand the logic
