I used it the other day. When the conductor came around, I just gave him my regular ticket, and showed my SE card, and that was it. The person I was travelling with used a UA 1K card.

I don't think I'd pay 20 pounds for the upgrade, but it's free and easy. Yet another reason to carry your card
