I just received this email from Hertz Hertz Frankfurt Airport regarding a 28 day booking of a Nissan GTR, starting Monday 18th May, which was booked 6mths ago at a very good rate.
thank you for booking your rental car with Hertz Germany.
Unfortunately, two of our Nissan GT-R units were crashed yesterday by a group of two renters. Therefore, we wont be able to provide the Nissan GT-R for you as there are no units left. I am sorry for this inconvenience.
Alternatively, we would like to offer you the following models:
- Peugeot RCZ-R COupe (270 horsepower sportscar) with a reduction of your total rental charge of 500€
- Mercedes S 350 long-version, same price
- Mercedes CLS 350D, same price
Please let us know if one of these models is fine for you or if you would like to cancel the reservation with Hertz.

Are they having me on? Has anyone seen this used as a way to cancel the a cheap booking?
I'm thinking of just saying I'll sort it out in person when I get to Frankfurt as none of the alternatives are attractive at all.
