Probably no effect at IC hotels as is case today, since for ICs it is the Ambassador program that really counts

For other brands no idea, but apart from HIEs in Europe where only one room type/size exists in hotels, at other brands CP/HI/Indigo/Staybridge Platinums are regularly upgraded so unless room upgrade is removed from Platinum status which would be akin to suicide by ihg I am not sure what real bennies can be offered outside of breakfast ?


Seems main benefit of the coming new status is 100% points bonus versus current 50%, but some quick maths is assuming $150 rooms then instead of 750pts plat bonus we'd get 1500 bonus. And 75nights at + 750pts is only an extra 50k points so buys just 1x IC award night or maybe 2x other brand nights
