Living in Singapore - 1 degree north to Equator. Already used to it.

If instead of west we decide to go to East and use $187 pass - what would be the reasonable alternative? Is climate cooler?

One question regarding accommodation - is AirBnB/Wimdo/VRBO common and acceptable?
