I was travelling with 2 work colleges , one bronze status the other has just achieved silver status.
One was upgraded at check in , the other upgraded at the gate.
I have been a silver holder for 5 years and was not upgraded.
I would of though there would have been some weighting in the tier's and length of activity (been with BA for over 20 years)
Does anyone have insight and care to share ?
If you dont mind can i ask if you travel in Club often or at least more than your friends did?
Based on what you have said ie one has achieved bronze one has just achieved silver, your friends may be just on their way to increasing travel with BA but maybe haven't travelled Club before?
While im obviously not given the criteria ive seen a few bookings where it was a similiar situation, that is to say recently achieved silver or bronze. So personally to me it seems as though it is done on the basis of: 'give them a free sample this time they might pay for it next time' for a discretionary upgrade
