I do think it's shady of AC to give you a status match then take it away because you haven't done any travel on AC within just over a month. If I were seeking a status match, I don't think I would bother crediting anything to that airline until I knew the match was confirmed. So to yank it away after only 33 days is pretty useless.

They didn't 'yank' anything - just didn't give him an extension into 2016.
Plus for someone who "knows how status matches work, thank you very much", it's hard to have much sympathy for the oh-poor-me routine. Especially since further up the thread, OP complains about being unaware of AC's requirements.
