It is also not bad for the person that has 2000 points left in their account and no plan on another trip for years, or the person that only earns 2000 points per year and will take 10 years to earn a free night. Not everyone stays in hotels 100+ nights a year. Better to get $10 of coffee now than to orphan the points.
