Well, I managed to get just 3 hours of sleep in the end. I checked out this morning. I spoke to the Duty Manager at check-out and he said they had security on duty last night to try an control the drunken revellers. Apparently they got many complaints last night from guests trying to sleep. Imagine a week of this!
As for the weather, it was possibly the warmest day of the year so far in the UK. The hotel I stayed at is a Grade II listed building so the decor is old and in dire need of refurbishment. There is no air-con in any of the rooms and I tried to sleep with the windows open (they only open a few inches). There was a desk fan in a cupboard that I had on the maximum setting all night, but the room failed to cool down sufficiently by this morning.
I got offered a 20% discount for the inconvenience caused. I'm booked at the Holiday Inn Express now, which is next to the hotel in question. At least that has air-conditioning in the rooms!
