Holiday Inn disaster

I'm currently trying to get to sleep at a Holiday Inn in the UK. They've had an 'event' running for several hours with drunken rowdy guests making a lot of noise.

I haven't stayed at this hotel before. Out of sheer frustration I've just called the duty manager to request a quieter room. There are no quieter rooms available and he informed me that the hotel has evening events for the rest of the week.

I wasn't told of this during check-in.

There is no air-con in the rooms and the room temperature is extremely high. This requires the windows to be opened a little, which brings in the traffic noise and the shouting of the drunken louts assembled just outside the main door.

The duty manager did not apologise for my ruined evening.

I'm stuck here at least until the morning. What's the best course of action in a situation like this? I'm booked here all week and the duty manager has implied that I won't be able to get any sleep for the rest of the week either.
