Higher rate for renovated room / "Royal" Deauville, France
On the web site of the hotel "royal" in Deauville France, there are renovated room only for deluxe / sea view.
I booked classic / lead in and I checked in I asked for a renovated room.
I was advised that there is classic renovated room and was asked for an upsell . I don't know how much. ( however classic renovated doesn't seem to be available on their web site)
Stupid question, is it that normal ?

They refused my 3 pm request for free late check out for both rooms and extended 1 pm for one room and 2 pm for the other as the hotel was full (yes busy holiday week end but it was not full per their web site...)
I was unhappy and complained... unfortunately my DYKWIM syndrome is growing way too fast. (they did extend to 1.30 pm )
Few notes on this hotel
- they closed their one Michelin star restaurant
- non renovated room are very tired
- bathroom door refused to close
- breakfast selection is good and the dining room is beautiful
- service is good (except a manager who seems not to know .to deal with difficult customer i.e "me" and after saying 1 pm is my last word, he just turned back and walked away despite I was about to say something)
- they have a free and small sauna / steam room with water, tea & fruit. Also have one treatment room and rate is OK (euro 90 for 50 minutes massage)
- outside pool (they give you free entrance to the public indoor pool next door)
- if you want indoor pool, their sister property next door "Normandy" is the one to book and they also have a kid club.
