Hi all, haven't really explored the DC area before. Flying in with my wife in August and looking for a few tips.

Our Southwest flight is scheduled to land at 11:55pm on a Wednesday. I've called and looked at almost every hotel near the airport (Holiday Inn Crystal City, Hyatt Regency Crystal, Residence Inn Capital View, etc.) and all have shuttles that run until midnight exactly. Most of the agents suggested I won't make those shuttles, and that seems likely. It also seems like the Metro route that runs into the heart of DC shuts down at midnight as well, so we will likely have to catch that in the morning after arrival.

So, are there any 24 hour shuttle options that I've missed? If not, what other options do I have? I'd rather not call a cab for a one mile trip. Is walking viable late at night from the airport to hotel? I'd love to walk, but My wife will NOT walk if there is any hint of danger in the route, so that's a consideration.
