This is how it should be...right?? Splitting shouldn't be an option unless you have more than two people on the res, then if so, it should give you the chance to select your upgrade companion from those on the res, then split the rest off. Wishful thinking I know..
Are you sure it didn't split anyway? I had an outbound flight a couple weeks back wait listed for a mileage upgrade. It didn't ask me if I wanted to wait list/split, but it did it anyway.
