The Marriott APR system varies by hotel. Some take the money the day after booking, others don't take the payment until day of arrival. Others take just deposits soon after reservation and the balance just before arrival. It's not easy to keep up!

However refunds are unusual, but as long as you've a reservation, you're good to go!
