Both Takayama and Kanazawa could have heavy snow, with more snow in Kanazawa than in Takayama. The trains run anyway, but when I took some students on a January Term trip that included Takayama, the students who had thought that the only footwear they needed was sandals plus wool socks had an unpleasant surprise.
Should I expect to bring snow boots? Is the winter, as far as snow, comparable to Michigan or Ontario?
