Because if you're coming into JFK at 1AM, and you're willing to spend the $ to stay at the Park Hyatt, then it seems silly to me to bother with the "cheaper" methods of getting there (i.e. public transport). Cab (or Uber) is the simple and obvious choice.
I would have made the same decision in this circumstance because of the hour, but can't we provide the OP with the answers to the question he asked and let him decide? There are plenty of times when I stay at a 5* hotel, yet opt to take public transportation to get there.
