Assuming it was O, I wouldn't instantly have though no tier points as I've been flying with Qatar Air and Finnair O or Q class recently and received points and avios for these bookings. It's not explicitly stated that certain classes with MH and Oneworld do not earn points though their own website talks about reduced earnings

I used the calculator as I knew that I would earn less than QR as it was one leg rather than 2 and wanted to check how much less.

It's not a case of blaming, MH can have whatever policy they want but lack of points would be an influencing factor in choice so given the same circumstances, I would choose QR.
