I think he was much more likely to have had intracranial hemorrhaging which led to increased pressure on the brain rather than having frankly exsanguinated, though concomitant blood loss may have also exacerbated the effects of the ICH. All we have are third hand suppositions of often inaccurate reporters at this point with regards to cause of death. Reading between the lines, it sounds like he was hypotensive and perhaps bradycardic when he reached the hospital.
