Brand new to the FF scene...
Hey guys... most of my traveling I do now I do by car... I'd like to be able to fly more often though, and am looking at Credit Card and Frequent Flyer programs. A friend directed me to this site, and I've been loving it so far! I'm trying to soak in all the information, but I figured I'd also post here in case anyone had good ideas/intuition about programs to join. So here's what I'm looking for.
1. What is most important to you in a frequent flyer program (FFP)?
(e.g., upgrades, priority services, baggage allowance, good award redemption rates, better award access, lounge access)
Reply: Just plain miles, and the reward rate. Don't care if I'm first-class, etc. Just want to be able to fly!
2. How many miles do you usually fly each year? How many flights/sectors?
(e.g., <25000, 25000-50000, >50000 miles and <25, 25-50, >50 flights?)
Reply: Less than 25k, for sure. I would like to be taking 1 to 2 flights per year with 2 to 4 passengers.
3. What fare class do you usually buy?
(e.g., first, business, premium economy, economy)
Reply: Economy.
4. Are you able to choose your airlines and/or class of service? Do you travel for work and/or pleasure?
Reply: I usually choose economy and I travel for pleasure.
5. Which routes do you fly most often
(e.g., U.S. domestic, transatlantic, intra-Asia)
Reply: U.S., but would like to do international to Mexico, China, Japan, Australia, and/or UK.
6. What is your home airport?
(e.g., SFO, LHR, HKG)
Reply: LNK, OMA, or DEN. (DEN is 8 hour drive, but I visit there often.)
7. Do you have status in any FFP? What is it? How miles do you have banked in a FFP, if any?
(e.g., AA Executive Platinum, UA 1K, LAN Comodoro)
Reply: Nope!
8. What are your preferred airlines, if any?
Reply: I've always really liked Southwest, though I'm hesitant to get their credit card due to the $99 annual fee. I like Frontier because they are usually the best value for me, and I've also had decent experiences with Delta and American, but I've heard people give stories to the contrary.
Thanks for any advice that anyone can offer! I really appreciate it!
