CoC RULE 6 TICKETS (J) (3)
The use of Flight Coupons from two or more different Tickets issued at round trip fares for the purpose of circumventing applicable tariff rules (such as advance purchase/minimum stay requirements) commonly referred to as “Back-to-Back Ticketing” is prohibited by UA.
As long as he's not doing that, he should be OK.
There was definitely a pricing advantage (which was half the reason I decided to just take a week off for vacation). Booking the way I am asking about would save ~$3k from when I originally booked a couple weeks ago.
But if I am not circumventing the advance purchase or minimum stay rules, then surely they can't just have a blanket price advantage rule?
