So not only is UA using TOD's to grab F seats away from Elite customers, now they are going after those customers post-flight and back-charging their credit cards for some random amount they "meant" to charge in the first place??

Stay classy, United.

I am an Elite customer, but the offer was great, so I thought I'd grab it. I've never seen one of these TOD unicorns before. Should have known it was too low to be real. But since I had increased the price of my ticket once already (original $334 + the first $169 upgrade on the outbound) I thought it was within the realm of reality. That's why the system offered me the second upgrade so cheaply in the first place -- that's the way it was explained to me. It wasn't supposed to, and their system changed the credit card charge all by itself, apparently.
BTW, they didn't back-charge my card post-flight. They back-charged it a day or two after the initial (lower) amount was shown as "pending." Flight isn't for a few more weeks.
