I want to get out of BA avios this year as I spent almost all of them pre April 28. I have a Canadian RBC British Airways credit card that I would like to cancel this month as the fee is $165 plus $75 for AU, but I have a trip booked in F/J to Barcelona with companion voucher for next March. When I read the terms it seems like I have to have the card in good standing at time of travel. I don't recall having to present the card on previous companion pass trips. Can anyone confirm what would happen to my ticketed booking if I cancelled? I would have thought once avios and pass were earned and redeemed, that should be final, whether travel had started or not.
