At first I'm thinking about using my cat 5 certificate at Shanghai Marriott City Center for 1 night and probably using points to stay at Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden for other nights. Unfortunately, Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden just went from cat 3 to cat 4 this year while some Renaissance hotels in Shanghai are still cat 2.
10,000 vs 15,000 points a night seem insignificant but 10,000 vs 20,000 points a night seem quite a lot.

We have stayed at the Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel. It was quite nice and close to a train station. Lounge was decent and service quite good. Not sure what the cat level is but I remember it was very inexpensive using points. Something like 15,000 or 20,000 a night.
