Have stayed at both properties (twice at Shanghai Centre) but if both of these properties are found within the Shanghai thread IMO they really shouldn’t be as the city of Hangzhou is over 100-miles from Shanghai.
The sites of Hangzhou features a beautiful lake park while Shanghai is a business city with Nanjing Road shopping and the Bund (river walk) so IMO if I were going to China I’d go to both cities (connected by a high speed train which has had its speed reduced due to safety concerns).
Plats are entitled to suites if staying for 3, or less nights, applicable to both properties.
Exec Lounges offer std items. If going over to Shanghai try to get into the library (some call it the Harry Potter exit) on top of the JW lounge as the view of the city at night is worth the price of a drink.
JW Hangzhou has a great dim sum restaurant.

I have narrowed down my choice to either "Shanghai Marriott City Center" or "JW Marriott Hangzhou"
Which hotel should I choose? My focus are room comfort, food in executive lounge, and possibility of getting suite upgrade as a platinum member.
