Online, I always choose points. Most of the time I get points + water/snacks at Hampton and HGI.

The exception is full service Hilton -- again I always choose points, but if I'm not upgraded to the exec floor, I ask the front desk for breakfast coupons. They will give them, but they mention I have to forgo points.
