That will get the OP his Avios back, but not his UR points back. Not sure that he will be able to do any better with the Avios than what he's already got.
That's exactly the issue. Not sure what I'd do with those 100k Avios as I do not foresee another trip to the UK anytime soon.
Avios can provide very good value for short-haul flights in Economy on AA and AS. SFO-LAX/PDX/PHX for only 4,500 Avios one way, with no surcharges. SFO-SEA for 7,500 Avios.
