Obviously, safety and timeliness are number one for EVERYBODY!
What I meant, was: Upgrades are likely the number one advertised perk of interest to Medallions. You continue to harp of the timeliness thing. Other airlines have proven that onboard UGs can be processed
AND still have flights depart on time. I don't understand why you never acknowledge this. Even when someone posts a story that there was
clearly plenty of time to UG
someone who asked if F was full - and didn't get the UG, you still ALWAYS stick up for the GA!
Have you ever seen a post that said:
My flight departed 5 minutes late today because the GA was processing onboard UGs?!? I think not.

While I do think it is good that the GA has leeway rather than rigid rules e.g., to get flights out on time, to accommodate special cases, just to deal with the unexpected, I also think that the abuse by some GAs of this leeway in order a) to accommodate fellow employees or their buddies in favor of the supposedly unlimited UG for us FF or b) out of laziness is an abomination. The fact that it goes on and on leads me to believe there are no consequences to the GA for doing this and that DL, in fact, sanctions this activity or at least does not consider it important.
THAT is why it is a big issue for us: DL advertizes this as a great perk for medallions but does not enforce policies that make sure their employees provide it *to the best of their ability and within the guidelines of getting the flights out on time*.
