US doesn't assign agents special to the Shuttle operations either; it just happens to have a bunch who have been working at the company longer because it is an older company.
However, at DCA and BOS, the same agents tend to work the Shuttle day-after-day. You get to know them and they take care of you when you can.
Incidentally, the US deadline for boarding the USS is T-10, not the standard T-15 and they will process a last minute change, hold the BP's to T-9 and then board what amount to standbys at the last minute. It's not policy, but they do it.
