For me it's all about the cabin. In y I sleep so poorly and am so uncomfortable that I'd much rather have the shortest flight possible. In j, I'd go with a somewhat longer flight if I wanted to be fully rested at the other end. That said, 10.5 hours is a long flight whatever class you're in...
