Because if I had the 15 or so HH cards I cancelled still open it would not only make my citi web page a mess ( 22 cards to see when I login) but I would also have $15K more in open credit with Citi which would probably put and end to my streak of 22 straight instant approvals for the Hilton Signature Visa
