First post and first flight outside Europe (I'm from the UK)

I booked a flight from Manchester, UK to Orlando via Chicago with American Airlines. Recently, they changed this to a flight via New York JFK, arriving and departing Terminal 8.

1015 MAN > 1259 JFK (AA211)
1440 JFK > 1751 MCO (AA291)

I was happy with this change until someone said that the connection at JFK may be tough. Looking through some of these forums, it seems they may be correct.

Is the 1h 40m connection time sufficient?

Do you need to collect bags and re-check or are they sent to Orlando directly?

If we are delayed on the first flight / during connection, do American have to ensure we arrive in Orlando?

Should I ask American for different flights with a longer connection time.

I see you get so many of these questions but wanted to check.
