Sometime between the previous time I bought a mileage ticket for someone else and today, Delta instituted a policy of sending email "Skymiles Award Redemption Confirmation" notifying me that miles were spent from my account.

That's probably a good idea, especially if they're finding lots of hijacked accounts.
