My sister came into town to visit me with one of her friends. They rented a car at LAX. Just looking at their contract and nearly wet my pants. They rental rate was $168 for the few days they will be here. But get this... on top of the rental rate was a $400 charge for every type of insurance on the planet. I asked my sister about it and she replied "the guy said insurance was mandatory". Unreal. Are people THAT stupid? Her GEICO policy covers rentals.
Was this Budget car rental at LAX? The last time I was there (and I also mean the LAST time I will ever go there), the counter lady told me I must buy insurance. I told her my work covers my insurance. She said I must buy insurance from them. I told her my credit card also acts as primary insurance. She said I must buy insurance from them. I told her I have auto insurance of my own. She said I must buy insurance from them. I told her just give me the car and I don't want insurance. She said "We will sue you for any damage done to the car!" Okay......
